Strange behavior that started recently where I cannot connect to my phone via USB to remove files, videos, etc.
The PC is running WinXP (at work) and has the drivers loaded.
The phone has GB stock rooted, and USB debugging enabled

Any thoughts? Did I do something to the phone? I havent installed anything since it last worked.

Thanks

I would remove drivers and redownload them. Also make sure you are using a data cable. Like the one that came with this phone. I haven't been on gingerbread in a long time. Is there a pop up in your notification bar that says connect USB? If not it may be in your settings menu. Also if you are on a desktop try using the back ports. Front ports are always sketchy for me.

when i swipe down the notification bar, I see USB-Connected, MTP-Connected. If I click on that, nothing happens.
I will try a different cable.

ok my computer (windows 7) couldnt see my phone when connected to usb...this is what i did to force it to access my phone as a drive:

  • connect the phone thru usb
  • go to Device Manager in windows 7
  • look in Portable Devices for SPH-D710
  • click SPH-D710
  • Go to Driver
  • click Update Driver
  • click Browse my computer for driver software
  • click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  • click SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device
  • click Next
That did the trick for me!
