Update of some sort prompted my wife this morning and now its stuck on the 4G boot logo. Why cant they leave well enough alone. This is a stock phone no root.

Technically your wife's phone did not brick. It is just a loop on the 4G boot logo. It happens. Sprint rep could have just re-flashed the phone, but keeping the phone current data isn't guaranteed.

The update was likely the security patch to close an exploit for most, if not all, current Samsung models. It's unfortunate that the Tech was not able to get it up and running for you. It could have been easily fixed as rraman3110 said -- either the Tech didn't know or didn't want to mess with it.

Yip definitely bricked it. The guy at sprint tried to fix it but says that he cant get into it. New phone on order. hmmm wife not happy.

Nowhere near bricked either. Just a simple bootloop. ODIN or a custom rom could've fixed that as well as probably a factory reset.

The tech just didn't feel like doing anything.
