So how many people have tried this now? I'm just a little bit concerned as I haven't had much luck with Odin.

EDIT: Piece of Cake. I have root.. Now the fun begins!

Those waiting for the unroot how-tos were smarter than I.... I have a rooted SIII that won't load past the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" Loading screen. Any thoughts on how I can get past this?

    AWESOME thread, thank you!

Still unrooted, my issue is that my at-home machine is a mac (mbpro) and my work machine is Windows 7 with some heavy security in place.

I may try logging into my developer account on this machine and then running through the process, just currently, I'm a bit apprehensive with this work machine locking me out from any services this method might rely on because of the security that corporate has installed on these machines.

Honestly, it's not bad at all. Just follow all of the instructions, and you'll be in good shape!

Just watch QB's video a few times and get everything lined up before you move onward.

If you have any questions stop and ask before going forward.. A few minutes, hours of waiting on a proper answer/response will save you a world of headaches.

I noticed the version of Odin jumped from 3.04 to 3.07 between the official Root and Unroot vids you posted - does it make a difference which version is used to root the device? Is it always best to use the most current?

Shouldn't...I was actually having problems with 3.07 freezing on me, so I want back to 3.04 and had no problems.

SGSIII doesn't have a bootloader to unlock.

By flashing a custom recovery and then applying Superuser (root) access your device is then "unlocked".

My clockworkmod.TAR file symbol is just a blank sheet of paper. In the video the symbol is different and it is just titled clockworkmod. Is this a problem?

It might be you have a diffrent program that associated with that file. My zip file icons look diffrent than his but its cause I have a diffrent program.

Most ROM developers will have walkthroughs and sometimes videos that detail how to flash their ROM. In general, its relatively simple so you shouldn't have too many problems. Congratulations on your first root :P
