    The linked guide is outdated from 2012. I tried CF Auto Root on 4.4 update for Sprint S3 and while it says the file was pushed correctly using Odin V 3.7, it says I'm not rooted.

    IIRC, After using CF Auto Root of 4.4, you need to download and install the latest SuperSU from the Play Store, and run it. It should ask you to update binaries. Answer yes.
