Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Hey SkunkApe,

I know lots of people are giving you questions but I think I've tried everything I know how. I'm in the same soft bricked boat. I had 4.1.2 rooted it chain fire method tried to restore a nandroid from liquid smooth rom and here I am. I've tried every single .tar I can find. I tried a 4.1.2 stock rooted I tried a 4.1.1 stock rooted every one I can find I've tried and they all say successful, and yet still stuck at pulsating sammy logo. Whats even more curious to me is that right after I used odin to flash 4.1.1 stock rooted (and got a successful message in odin) If I attempt to boot into recovery it still has the light blue booting recovery message that I started getting after I installed twrp. Any ideas or other .tar files for me to try?

Now that you have flashed back to stock and are still stuck on Samsung screen. Not into stock recovery and perform a factory reset. That will often fix your problem.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

That's where my problem lies..I can't get into stock recovery...I can't get into any recovery..it just says recovery booting or whatever..then if I let go it restarts..Am I screwed? I suppose I can try flashing the stock again and giving it a shot..

Have you tried flashing the recovery tar instead of the return to stock tar? You can find it in my rooting guide. I would flash the recovery in Odin, pull the battery. Then boot directly into recovery. Then wipe data and try to reboot.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Ok as soon as I can find that I will try it...On the guide that I found.. link here - http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...ted-how-root-your-sprint-galaxy-s3-print.html

I don't see a stock recovery. Did you mean TWRP recovery? Or am I on the wrong guide...and seriously, even if this doesn't work. Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to try and help, very much appreciated.

the recovery in the guide will be custom. But if you don't immediately flash the team epic root from recovery file, it will revert back to stock recovery after a few reboots. I just want to get your phone booting properly at this point.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Ok sorry for the second quick post. I finally managed to get into recovery after flashing twrp from your guide..I've got the option to wipe cache, dalvik cache factory reset or format data. I guess now I'm just wondering whether or not to do the factory reset, as you mentioned in the previous post, or flash the root from recovery zip now..

Format data factory reset are the same thing. Yes that's what you need to try.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Holy mother of thank you. I have a working phone. I will just ask just to be sure..I should be able to go back into recovery and flash an old nandroid correct? Assuming I do a full wipe? I'm just sort of terrified to do it again, flashing a backed up nandroid is how I got here..Just not sure if I should do something different before attempting to flash a nandroid or not..

You can try that but I would flash a different backup than the one that messed you up. Also, most likely you will find that you now have stock recovery. If you still have custom recovery the first thing I would do is flash team epic root from recovery so you don't lose your custom recovery.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

So is the process to go into stock recovery and flash team epic root from recovery.zip or put custom recovery back on and then reboot directly into it and flash team epic root from recovery.
Also, could it be that because i changed the name of my nandroid it got all messed up? As I'm sure you've heard before thank you so much for saving my stupid careless self...

If you are now on stock recovery, here's what you need to do.

1. Place team epic root from recovery onto either your external or internal sd card.
2. Flash custom recovery to your phone.
3. Go into recovery and flash team epic root from recovery.

As for renaming your backups. You can do it within a few limits. There can be no spaces in the name.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Man, you can tell you've done this a few times. First off thank you SO much for all of your help. I actually did still have twrp custom recovery and went into it and flashed team epic from there. My guess is that naming is what screwed up my flash because I definitely had spaces in the name that I chose. Thank you so much!

Yeah... I have done this quite a few times. :D

You may even be able to fix your backup by renaming it without the spaces. One other thing you should know about backups. CWM and TWRP backups are not compatible with each other.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Hi, I rooted my phone with odin and clockwork mod, I did not add any custom rom all I did was just root so that I could use the freewifither app. Does this mean all i have to do is flash the unroot file through odin and that should unroot and put my cellphone back to how it first was unrooted, and they would not be able to tell (no root counts) I ask this as I may be exchanging for a new phone soon
