Evo Shift 4G to SG3 switch?
I my upgrade just rolled over so I'm starting to think more seriously about upgrading and the SG3 has caught my eye. So I have some basic questions if y'all don't mind.
1. Has anyone switch from an EVO to Sammy? Are there any major differences in the UI?
2. Is the GS3 ready to root out of the box? My Shift had to be rolled back to 2.3.3 before I could root it...
I've also seen the rumors of the GS4 coming out soon... so I'm hoping that means price drop for the GS3.. Anything you guys have for me is appreciated, even if it is things you don't like after using your GS3 for a while.

Re: Evo Shift 4G to SG3 switch?
1: It is very similar, I went from a rooted EVO 4G to the SG3 and it was an easy transition. My wife has the GS2 (technically it was the Epic 4G touch) maybe that helped me a little but I like the TouchWiz a lot more than Sence. It is a lot more customizable than sence right out of the box, so much so I am not all that worried about rooting it right away. It still has bloatware of course but I don't think it was as bad as the EVO. The biggest differences are the internal memory (tons of room for apps) and the much needed battery life.
2:As far as rooting, like I said I'm not in a rush to root until I am real comfortable with the phone and start running out of options that I really want. At this point the only reason would be to get rid of the bloatware and get back to a keyboard I fell in love with in the Nitros ROM. I'm running GoLauncher EX and it has most everything I had with my rooted EVO on Nitros.
BTW I got mine at Best Buy for $100 (re-upped my contract with Sprint), sale ends today but they are running a promo for $50 gift card with purchase of select phones (GS3) staring tomorrow, it will most likely cost $150 but you will get $50 back on gift card. Oh yeah, you HAVE to sign up for the gift card tonight tho. Go get it you will love it.

Re: Evo Shift 4G to SG3 switch?
I upgraded from an original Evo 4G to the GS3. There are lots of differences, but many have as much to do with the change from FroYo to JB as they do going from HTC to Samsung. There's a ton of information about the GS3 here. If you decide to get one, check out this post: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sam...galaxy-s3.html
Yes, the GS3 is ready to root, and very easy to root. Just make sure you follow the instructions for your carrier / model. Skunkapes instructions for rooting the Sprint version are the best I've seen: [GUIDE] UPDATED: How to Root Your Sprint Galaxy S3BROKE MY WRIST AND TYPING ONE-HANDED! Please forgive all typos.
PLEASE, when asking for help provide as much information as possible. Otherwise, it's like calling your doctor and saying "My head hurts." Your doctor can't treat you unless he knows whether you have a headache or a concussion, and we can't help unless we know what the symptoms are and what you did before they occurred.
Give a person an answer, and you've solved one problem. Teach a person to search, and you have helped them solve problems forever.
