Root went away after updating to 4.1.2
Sup everyone, I just joined this forum because I'm tired of listening to everyone on youtube about rooting your phone and when you do something its almost too late..I recently rooted my phone and I updated my phone to 4.1.2 which was previously 4.1.1 because I kept getting that annoying update on my phone. I did the update manually and backed up everything on my internal hd on my phone also. The update works but my phone is no longer rooted!! I plugged my usb cable into my computer to see if the files are still on my phone and they are which is a good thing i guess. So my issue is how can I access those files so that my phone is rooted again? I did the volume up+power+menu screen and the only thing i have access to is my sdcard, reboot system, apply update, and some other ..this is in system recovery. So how can i access the files so my phone is rooted again

Re: Root went away after updating to 4.1.2
were you rooted when you updated? did you do the update OTA (Over The Air)? almost all the time an update OTA will fail. just trying to see what state your phone was in when you went to 4.1.2

Re: Root went away after updating to 4.1.2
I followed Skunk's procedure to do a "dirty" flash of MB1 (from MA6), and everything's working fine. I still have root.

You can't flash root of custom recovery from stock recovery. Flashing team epic root from recovery must be flashed in custom recovery.
You will have to install custom recovery with Odin. See my guide to root.

Re: Root went away after updating to 4.1.2
Follow the instructions in post #2: Your Way to Update to MB1 You can skip the factory reset step if you want. Everything will probably be fine. But if you do start having issues after the update, a factory reset will most likely resolve them.
