How to turn on car mode?

How do you put the S3 in car mode? As I recall the S2 had a widget you could put on the home screen that would activate this feature.

Not sure if it's the same for Sprint phones, but on the International version:

- Swipe down from the top of the screen to bring up notifications
- Swipe the top bar to the left
- Click on "Driving Mode"

Or goto s voice and just say driving mode on.

just tried that, nothing happened

Is it supposed to be a different layout for the screen? On my Evo 4g, there were very large icons on the home screen in driving mode...nothing changed here even though Svoice said' driving voice on'

There is no driving mode on the Sprint version in the notification pane toggles.

This is a super hidden feature and I wish they still had the widget to launch it. But go to settings > language and input > text-to-speech output > car mode and toggle it on.

It will start reading text messages and stuff out loud when they come in.

If what you're looking for is this (big icons for commonly used features while driving):

Unfortunately I think that's an HTC specific app. You'd have to find an alternative app/widget for your S3 to mimic the same functionality.

Yup, that's exactly what I was looking for! I do hope there is something similar in the Play Store.

There is a widget for car mode stock in the phone. Vlingo Car...

Many of the stock widgets won't be shown if you're using a different launcher. Some only work with touchwiz.

Nope. Phone is out of the box. I hit the app button on the bottom right and go to widgets and don't see anything. Should I be turning something on like s voice. I haven't activated it yet.

Why do people think that just because somethings not there that they are rooted and running a custom rom? Most people don't...even ones that read android central....I'm one of them.

Now, I can turn on driving mode manually or with Svoice. BUT...I do not have the vlingo car widget. Sorry. It's just not there.

It's a pain to go into settings and change it So I just have S voice do it for me!

I have 5 Vlingo Widgets that came in my phone. I didnt install Vlingo, unless it installed itself when I transfered SD cards, but doubt it because I was missing a bunch. When I was settingbup my phone out of yhe box at one point it asked me If I wanted to include Vlingo service, I remember that.
