No according to Sprint it's completely random. You can manually update it if you are stock unrooted. I posted a thread with everything you need to do it.
Manually Update to LG8 unrooted phones only.

The most significant news in this OTA affects those in LTE rollout areas. The release notes item called
is supposed to fix a problem that was causing handsets to downshift from LTE to EVDO at signal-strength threshold for LTE that had been set too high. This was causing many to report that they couldn't get or hold an LTE connection. (The other factor was the thin tower coverage in the "launched" LTE rollout areas.
