So how many people came from the S2
I'm considering taking the plunge and getting the S3, I currently have the S2 which I like(aside from the battery life).
I have a chance to pick up a new one for $350-ish, is it worth the $$$? I know I can sell my S2 and accessories for around 250.
Is the phone that much better than the S3?I have no signature. - 09-02-2012, 01:55 PM #2

I came from a g2 and love my g3. It's much better..but since we still have no 4G LTE out in NY, I can't get the full affects of my fone!!!!SPRINT don't have LTE in NY but other companies does have LTE..PICK UR COMPANY WISELY .But g3 is SOOOOOO worth the money..AT&T has it for $149..which is awesome !!!

If you have a s2 I think it might be better to wait. The s2 is still a great phone and the difference is not that big at all in the us version of the s3. I'm waiting for them to release the s3 with a quad core. I'm sure they will and if not I might pick up the next galaxy nexus.
Of course if money is not a issue and you don't mind paying full price for a phone, then go for it. But I still think its not worth it imho.
Also, I wanted to add both phones are getting jelly bean. If the s2 wasn't getting jelly bean I would go for the s3.

The only way to get a quad core S3 is to buy the unlocked international version, basically at full price. Its also been shown that the dual core actually performed a little better then the quad core.
All US versions use the dual core S4 Snapdragon processor because of LTE. Samsung's exynos processor doesn't play well with LTE.

If you use sprint set up a Google Voice account. The Google Voice app itself will transfer all text to any phone. Plus you get to use your Sprint cell phone number as your Google Voice number. It doesn't help with your current situation I know, but it is something to know for the future

Re: So how many people came from the S2
I wouldn't go that far to say the dual core performs better than the quadcore exynos. The dual core's per core performance maybe better but the difference is not that big. Your comparing a 32nm processor vs a 28nm.
Also the GPU on the quadcore version is waaay better. Have you tried running pop up video on the dual core version yet? Its a laggy mess, on the quad core version, you can run the video while still playing shadow gun with no lag. - 09-03-2012, 10:42 PM #16

Re: So how many people came from the S2
I just upgraded Sataurday. Was worth it to me as only cost me $106 not includeing tax. Had to upgrade before the end of the year or have to wait till September 2013. So this was my last once a year upgrade.
If you are not in a LTE area wait till you are. So far only issue I have is that "cell standby" reads way too high and is a known issue. Hope it gets fixed in next update.

Re: So how many people came from the S2
The video plays fine but when you swipe left to the right in the app drawer or home screen the frame rate of the gestures move way down. It becomes laggy like the original droid one. When try to play a graphically heavy game like shadow gun the game grinds to halt. Mind you this is the only way I can get the phone to lag at will so I don't use this feature because it will just get me mad. Lol and its not just on my phone. All my friends gs3 and my wife's does the same thing.

I totally agree with you on the GPS thing...infinitely better than E4GT, even if the ICS update improved things for me. Also, the aftermarket is better and 3G speeds are better. I don't have 4G in Jacksonville yet, so that's the main drawback.

Re: So how many people came from the S2
I love this phone, absolutely love it. Though the "cell standby" is taking up most of the battery life the life is still WAAAY better than the SG2. I'm at 46% on 16h and 24m of time on the battery...that's with GPS on(which connects in about 2 seconds compared to the MINUTES it took on the SG2), email refresh every 15 minutes, ESPN updates, and light to moderate use etc. My SG2 would be at 15% by now.
If it was socially acceptable I'd have sex with this phone, lol.
