Freezes up when using drag and drop

As a previous owner of 2 blackberrys and an LG android, I've never had so many problems with this as I've had on my SIII. All I want to do is plug the phone into the usb and drag and drop files. With the SIII, sometimes the phone doesn't show up, and then other times freezes up during small file transfers.

Anyone else experience this? I really don't have the need for Kies. Just want to drag and drop files.

I had that issue for a while with the stock is cable that came with the phone. While at my brothers house, we wanted to transfer some pictures and I didn't have my cord. He found a cord around his house and I was able to transfer what we wanted. Since it was working so well, I decided to put it to the test and copied everything on my phone to his desktop. It took a while but it did it without issue.

I went to best buy on the way home and picked up a monster usb cable and haven't had that issue again.
