Hi everyone, My S3 seems to be using a lot of its battery while idle. It goes from 100% when I go to bed down to 60ish%. It never used to go this quickly, can anybody help?
It says that cell standby is using the most battery but when I tried flight mode it was similar battery drain. I'm running 4.1.2 on in Ireland

More than likely an app you installed since the stock ones aren't supposed to keep it up like that

I think I've cracked it! I disabled some Samsung applications, uninstalled App Lock and removed my Hotmail account. I haven't charged to 100% and left overnight yet but during the day battery drain was significantly less. Thanks for your help!

Usually my S3 battery drain in 2-3 days. But, I disabled Gmail aplication, and I deleted my accounts in Email application. Now I have 45% battery remaining, charged 4 days and 6 hours ago. I think that is the probblem. If you want to use your email adress try to use just one program, and fewer email adresses will lead to fewer power consumption. Depends on email application you can customize how offen the application will try (in background) to syncronize the email.

And if this worked for you please help the others and post this on other sites!
Good luck!

Hi,
I had battery drain issue with "Media" application. It was trying to download a pdf or something. I cancelled all downloads and my problem solved.

Based on usage your battery will drain much faster. The rate of drain you report though is obviously much higher than it should be. Try removing the micro SD card as that has been known to be a possible read issue that leads to battery drain with the newest Jelly bean update.

Before 4.1.2 I would unplug my phone from the charger at 100% and I could go 10-15 minutes and more with the phone idle and it would still be at 100%....

Now, with the same scenario, the phone goes down to 98-99% within 5 minutes of just 'on' idle time.....

Pisses me off!

How quickly the battery drops when you first take it off the charger depends more on where the phone is in the battery maintenance cycle than anything else. See http://phandroid.com/2010/12/25/you...is-lying-to-you-and-its-not-such-a-bad-thing/

The first 10 - 15 minutes just isn't a meaningful gauge of battery usage. If it drops to 50 or 60% noticeably faster, that's something that might be an issue, and might be curable, but the first 2 percentage points are pretty meaningless. Some mornings I pull my phone off the charger and am still at 97-98% when I get to work 45 minutes later. Other days I drop that much by the time I get out of my driveway.
