Re: Media server killing my battery
Yep...me too. I thought it had to do with the sheer amount of files on your phone (ie, nandroid backup files, mp3s, pics, etc). I wasn't sure what the process was really doing, but it did finish up after a week or so. The process will take a long while to run, but it should finish up. I uninstalled Titanium Backup and all data (I use MyBackup Pro to freeze apps and manage that stuff) and that seemed to help getting that process to complete quicker.
Perhaps one method if you have lots of backups, is to put them on your computer for safe keeping. When something happens, you can just put them back on the external card and then use them as needed. I read somewhere that you can also do your phone backups into tar archive files instead of the regular dup files which can cause excessive scanning. Not sure if that's even valid, but I did run across that...likely on XDA. - 12-30-2012, 08:36 AM

Re: Media server killing my battery
This is due to sd card you have inside the phone. Remove the SD card, fully charge your battery and monitor.

Re: Media server killing my battery
I was told to use rescan media root to disable media scan so media wouldn't affect my battery. Idk though. Only if youre rooted

Re: Media server killing my battery
Was there ever a fix for this? Root is not an option for me. I also do not consider removing the SD card a fix...although it does work. However, I lose a lot of storage that I would like to have back. I am 100% certain that this is caused by the SD card, since I put it back in an hour ago and watched my battery drain about 20% in that time. I removed it and all order has been restored. I have reformatted the card multiple times and there is currently nothing on it, so I am not sure why it needs to be scanned.

Re: Media server killing my battery
I am having the same problem with battery drain/media...I am not rooted either. I did have a rooted evo and did not have any problems.
Is there any other suggestions to help the battery drain with this situation? Without root?

Re: Media server killing my battery
this might be a dumb question but would removing sd card before updating solve this concern ?
