Default My micro sd card (8 gb, HC) stopped working!!!!

I tried to listen to some music and notice that all my music was gone. So I check "My Files" on my phone (GSIII) and my sd card was not coming up. So I tried to pull the card up on my computer with the same results. Can sd cards burn out? Can it be fixed? HELP!!!!!!

The same thing happened to be on my sd card. I have note 2. Only reason I could think of is my card is a generic so it probably wasn't good quality. I put it into my computer and recovered files. I went ahead and purchased a sandisk card. Is your card generic?

No. It's made by Samsung. but I had the card for 3-4 years. iIt came with my old phone, HTC Evo 4G.

There has been major issues with s3 and sd cards. I had a San disk 32 gb class 4 go bad on me. At times the phone falsely notified me that the card was unmounted. Then files disappeared and ended up in the lost.dir file but without a name and basically lost. In my opinion there is a major bug with this phone (and maybe the galaxy note as well) and sd cards, but Samsung is ignoring it. Just Google Samsung Galaxy s3 and SD problems and you'll see what I mean. Anyways I have since switched to another San disk but this time a 32 GB class 10 and so far (knock on wood...) I'm not having issues!

My Note 2 stopped recognizing a Patriot 32gb class 10 card. The card is also undetectable by both my macbook and my windows rig. My guess is that the card went bad and not the phones fault. I could be wrong.

My S33 has fried 3 cards for me. Two SanDisk 32Gb class 10 and one Transcend 16Gb class 6.
First 32Gb was replaced under warranty. Guess I have to send the other one back too.
There's is really something wrong about S3 handling SD-cards

Same thing just happened to me, hence I am here on the forums. 8gb, HC by SAMSUNG...not showing up on my Note 2, computer, or friend's phone. What gives? Worked fine on my EVO 4G too for years!

You've probably reached the "end-of-life" of your card if it's 3-4 yrs old and used for those 3-4 yrs. The usual lifetime of an sd card is about 100,000 write cycles.

I'm glad I found this information in the forums. I thought it was my phone that was damaged. It is easier to buy a new sd card than deal with sprint on repairs or replacing my phone.
