Proximity sensor and flip cover

I am using a flip cover app. And it makes my proximity sensor glow red. Is this normal?

Are you sure it's not the LED showing that you're charging? If it's the proximity sensor glowing, you might want to bring it back to wherever you got it and show them. I'm pretty sure the sensor doesn't glow and if it is, you might have a serious hardware issue. Definitely do NOT put the phone to your head until this is resolved...

It's not the notification lights that on the other side.

OK, I did some googling, and it IS your proximity sensor and if it glows, then it's on. And, apparently, it's something you want if you use the flip features or a cover.

Hmmmmmm.. I noticed my proximity sensor light going on when I send a text on stock messenger... Anyone else

Menu-->Settings-->Motion. There's even a "Learn about motions" section in there.

I have used the motion settings. There's nothing there on my Sprint GS3 related to flip covers. Maybe after downloading something from the play store it will show up there, but it's not there on my mostly stock Galaxy.

there isnt a setting in the phone for flip covers. there are a few flip cover control apps on the play store. It uses the proximity sensor. When you open the flip cover it turns on the screen, when u close it it turns off the screen.

Sorry, you're correct. There isn't a feature for flip covers, just a feature for flipping the phone (say that fasts ten times) to mute or pause.
