Default Your Way to Update to MA6

This will be the way to manually update your phone if you are:

Rooted or Unrooted - Stock Rom with all needed bloatware and Stock recovery.

Download the following update zip and place it on your external sd. Go to settings/security and make sure unknown sources is unchecked.

Shut off phone. Press volume up, power and home button at the same time. As soon as you see a flash, let go of the buttons. This will put you in stock recovery. Using the volume bar to select and power button to activate, select update from external storage. Choose the file you previously put there. Push your power button. Your update will begin.

If you are Rooted and have custom recovery this is for you.

This is the Full Stock MA6 Pre-Rooted in a zip file. You would flash these files like you would any other ROM. The Rom and firmware (radio) are 2 separate zips.

    1. Download files and put them on you external or internal sdcard.
    2. Wipe cache, wipe dalvik, factory Reset
    3. Flash Firmware
    4. Flash ROM
    5. Reboot

If you mean cwm recovery, no it won't. The method in post 1 is for stock recovery with no bloat removed. I will most likely have your way to update later today.

Can't wait to see how many people complain this won't work when they try it with CWM or TWRP.
PLEASE, when asking for help provide as much information as possible. Otherwise, it's like calling your doctor and saying "My head hurts." Your doctor can't treat you unless he knows whether you have a headache or a concussion, and we can't help unless we know what the symptoms are and what you did before they occurred.

Anyone seen just the modem/radio update?

I'm still on stock rooted 4.1.1 but flashed up to the MA4 modem/radio and have been having much better signal strength up in WA state.

Not sure if MA6 is any major difference but looking to try it out - am happy with 4.1.1 right now for what I use it for.

I'll wait for the official 4.2 release before upgrading my ROM.

Do you have some pathological need to insult people? Given your post count, I'm not surprised you don't "get" the comment.

After the update: If you use a 3rd party keyboard...Swiftkey, etc....make sure you go into the menu>language and input, and verify that this is the default keyboard rather than the Samsung keyboard.

I haven't found one yet...
The last few updates, I had 4+ ways before the day was out. This update isn't getting the attention the others did.

But any of the updates will overwrite your custom Rom. The only way to keep your custom Rom is by waiting until the dev releases it. If you aren't on a touchwiz Rom, it most likely won't happen and the best you should expect is an updated modem.

Well then I'm in luck because I'm switching to Goodness later tonight once it finishes downloading and it is a TouchWiz ROM.

Just a question for ya though. How do I go back to totally stock but rooted? (a.k.a go back to before all the flashing of custom ROMs, but still be rooted) Because once 4.2 officially hits our phone, i don't think I'll even need to run a custom ROM. Maybe just a kernel for better battery life.

If and when it comes, it will come much like what I sent you. You will just flash it in recovery. You can just stay on what your running now and when and if it is released as a Rom, you can just flash it. But at this point I haven't seen it even being discussed.

    Skunk,

I'm sure you already know this but here is freeza's download page:

If I'm on CM10.1 and cwm recovery, can I use any of these to update the modem? I wouldn't mind going through the process of reverting back to stock rom/recovery but can't find a clear guide on how to do so. Any help is appreciated as always.

Skunk, if a CWM version doesn't come, could we just flash or odin the stock recovery, then flash this prerooted update, then reflash CWM?

I tried this and couldn't get it to work. Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong but it's just not happening for me.
