Treve's Hotspot wont work

Im having an issue where everytime I try to tether, i'd simply get a message saying "Tethering started with errors. Check log to view problems" but everytime I check the log it says "error: file log does not exist". My phone is rooted and I did set the profile to S3. My only issue is that everytime I set the profile to S3, it says "profile set to GT-I9300". My model is SPH-L710. Could this be the issue?

Sorry im still new to the whole root thing, ROM is stock root, I think thats how you say it. Idk what you mean for OS

4.1.2?, 4.3.1? Jellybean
4.4 ? KitKat

I use Wifi Tether AP from the Play Store.
It works fine for me on JB.

Seems to be very responsive and have great support, but it worked fine for me right out of the box.

I have gs3 for sprint 4.4.2 stock rooted.
My question is : if I use the tethering app above, would the provider know that I am tethering? I just wanted to use it occasionally wit my laptop not as a replacement of my home WiFi.

I've been between homes.
Use about 10G a month.
Sprint has not said a thing to me.
