    Default Spark

Anyone notice the LG G2 working on Spark?
I live in Miami and haven't seen the icon come up.
I had already enabled the bands

I don't believe this phone has band 41 enabled yet (2600mhz) it might have band 26 (800mhz lte)

Sprint says 1st qtr of 2014.

"Sprint also said the LG G2 will become tri-band enabled through a software update later this month."
per Sprint kicks off Framily, a group-based calling plan - FierceWireless
which is noted in the thread http://forums.androidcentral.com/spr...int-spark.html

Spark is the name given by Sprint to identify their usable tri band LTE network (Bands 25, 26 and 41).

The Sprint G2 is tri band capable but only has the band 25 radio enabled out of the box.

Spark will be activated on the LG G2 via an OTA update from Sprint. I have read it is in final testing and should be available soon (before the end of the month).

Some Sprint G2 users have activated bands 41 and 26 on their device through a dialer code setting. So, they have three bands activated, but they do not have the official Spark update.

Not all Sprint coverage areas are broadcasting bands 41 and 26. You will not notice Spark unless you are in an area that is broadcasting all three bands (or at least one of the other bands in addition to 25 - I'm not positive what technically constitutes "Spark" i.e. 25+41, or 25+26, or 25+41+26).

Well, Miami is supposed to be one of the markets that has the technology enabled.

Current rumor is that the Tri-Band/Spark OTA update is to start going out on Friday, 01/24/14.

This bodes well for you and your device. Hopefully the Miami market is mature enough with bands 41 and 26 that you notice a nice improvement in LTE.

I don't know all the technicalities, but the Spark update may make changes to the baseband other than simply enabling the radios for bands 26 and 41. For that reason I decided to wait for the OTA and let things work as designed rather than force the matter for no practical benefit or worse - foul something up.

I really hope this come out on the 24th. Im tired of getting the same scripted verbiage from sprint customer service reps who don't know anything....

Just now manually checked for an update and it downloaded a file about 110mb. After a reboot the spark icon appeared in the status bar.

A speed test has NOT shown any speed increase, and the signal has NOT changed here at home.

Thanks for letting me know. I've been checking about 100 time a day, since Monday and still haven't received it.

Are you stopping google services framework, then clearing the data before checking each time? I only needed to do that about 3 or 4 times before I got the update, which was about 3 hours after I read it had been put up.

Just be aware this practice is not necessarily advisable! Google warns against it. http://www.talkandroid.com/185088-go...ramework-data/
