Unofficial CM9 Kangs by irtehun
What do you think? My buddy ZiggSevo turned me onto this ROM and I must say its been impressive. Overnight battery drain is next to nothing, look at the battery graph overnight and its a nice smooth graph like it should be... No hidden processes or anything causing battery drain.
Snappy, smooth and has the main goodies in place and placeholders for more future options as they become available.
Also it seems like they did something to tweak the volume levels because all my notifications/ringers, etc seem a lot louder and not distorted or crackling at these higher levels... Might just be me on this but it does seem I can actually hear an incoming notification for a change...

Downloading now.
How long have you been running this?
How is the speed and battery related to the kernel in your case? Matr1x?Phone: Galaxy Note 2 | ROM: Stock | Kernel: Stock

Re: Unofficial CM9 Kangs by irtehun
I've been running it close to 24 hrs.. Its nice...
Speed is nice, battery from what I was told by Zigg my partner was about 1% sitting idle over night.
It really seems like this is one of the first ROMs not to suffer from the Android OS overload bug that so many seem to have....
I can also confirm others have said the notification/volume levels are louder making this a plus since that is something that has always plagued the NS4G with its quiet volume levels.
Oh before I forget, yes I am running my kernel of choice. Matr1x v17.0

One could lose a significant part of his life trying out all these ROMs and kernels...back into the fray.

So far, so good.
I'll have to weigh in on the volume of the ringers as I go through the day. I'm missing my custom icons

Yup. A lot better. Android OS, bug or not, is down near the bottom of the ranks.

Re: Unofficial CM9 Kangs by irtehun
I'm still digging this ROM, but I am starting to notice a slight bit of lag (esp with lazy gov) that seems to improve with intellidemand. Also, my GPS failed today and I couldn't get it to lock until rebooting the phone. Anyone else face this problem? Is it a maps issue?

I do like this rom but i would prefer it more if it didn't have the dsp manager built in. I still think volume plus is better. Looks like I may have to dig it out of the zip and reflash it. Then it would be perfect.

For some unknown reason today, I ended up in boot loops that I couldn't stop from happening. I haven't made any changes to the ROM except remove some apps I didn't want but that was right after installing back a few days ago.
I ended up wiping dalvik cache and flashed Matr1x v17 again. Things seem to be okay now. Going to have to contribute this one to the kernel having some kind of freak out after days of solid running.
Fyi was running Matr1x untouched, just flashed and never touched a kernel setting.

Re: Unofficial CM9 Kangs by irtehun
This does sound like an atypical situation.
I really think this has been an excellent ROM overall. The only problems I've encountered have been that single GPS failure and for some reason my calendar stopped syncing -- wasn't even a checkbox option in the settings. Probably something I did while messing with Titanium or flashing themes.
Either way, it's all back in good working condition.Phone: Galaxy Note 2 | ROM: Stock | Kernel: Stock
