    Default Stock kernel for ICS

I want to flash some kernels to try out but have a question first. I'm rooted with twrp recovery. I've backed up everything that can be
backed up. Which file is the original kernel? And For the life of me I cannot find a stock kernel image anywhere! Is the boot.img the original kernel file?

Yes, the boot.img contains the kernel, BUT keep in mind that most, if not all, custom kernels will come packaged with some system files as well. These are usually for wifi and such so even if you restore your boot backup, those system files will still be left in your system and more than likely wifi will be broken and possibly other things.

Best thing to do is simply restore your entire backup through recovery or at least system and boot. The other option is to simply reflash your rom, no wipes really needed. Either way, you will get your stock kernel and necessary files back.
