I can install any nightly version from 12/19/12 and earlier, but any other ones it gives me an error when it boots to the homescreen it says something about gapps stopped working and then setup stopped working as well. I've tried multiple gapps versions. What should I do?

I've found the CM 10.1 nightly builds to be unusable on my nexus s 4g so far. My suggestion would be to use the CM10 stable from Nov. 15th ()

Get the latest gapps package for whichever version of CM you decide to run at

Are you performing a full wipe when moving to cm10.1 from cm10? Cyanogenmod has flat out said you must do that. Cm10.1 with the 12/12 gapps works for but not quite stable enough for me.

I echo what hlxanthus has said, a full wipe which includes a factory reset, cache wipe, boot wipe, davik cache wipe HAS to be done before installing 10.1 and it works perfectly on my NS4G.
