Beta testers
hey guys working on a project for the nexus s 4g. i just need a few volunteers willing to test, been running it for a few days and everything checks out so i am moving onto private beta

anyways all i want to be know about it publicly is that if it works out just right you should expect 1.5x-2x the battery life depending on your usage..Webchat support for the Official Unloved Devices Hit Squad

I moved this over to the root/ROMs/Hack section making an assumption you're talking about a ROM or a kernel (given the battery life comment). We all know what happens when you assume so if I'm wrong and this doesn't require a custom recovery, let me know and i can toss it back into the gen-pop

Looking forward to seeing it!! - 05-23-2011, 10:48 AM #8

Did not work on my phone but I have a custom script that changes a whole bunch of stuff on boot. I'm thinking there was contention between the tweak and my script which prevented it from running.
Once I get some free time I'll do a full wipe clean install without my script and see if it will run then. - 05-24-2011, 06:43 AM

About to flash. Thought I could do it yesterday but didn't get a chance to.
- 05-24-2011, 05:43 PM #24
ok so i renamed my script to .bak so it wouldn't run on boot and rebooted to verify, which confirmed the settings went back to default. Then i flashed the zip you sent me and I'm still not sure the results are as expected. Let me preface by saying I've never used this persons original tweak despite it being on every phone I've owned but i am very familiar with it.
Here is what i noticed:
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq = 1000000 (was under the impression this should be 800000)
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq//scaling_governor = ondemand (was under the impression this should be smartass)
Those are stock values which i didn't expect to see. Meanwhile when i hit certain values and expected some dynamic changes, they didn't happen. @ 40% battery (I watched Netflix just to drain the battery) the values above were still in place.
My interpretation of this tweak is these values should change dynamically dependent upon certain parameters. If you need more info, or if i have made absolutely no sense (quite possible) shout out.
EDIT- if the tweak doesn't change the tables I listed above dynamically, let me know specifically where they are applied and I can check there instead. Again, I've never ran that tweak so I could be way off base.Last edited by KSmithInNY; 05-24-2011 at 06:26 PM.
