Factory Reset Locked Phone!?!?!

My dad gave me his phone because he wants something more simple (lol) and its a Nexus S 4g but it has a pattern lock. The thing is, he doesnt remember the pattern code, or his gmail password... Is there a way to unlock it or factory reset it?? Please help! :'(

Not sure how to boot into recovery on your phone, but if you know how, boot into recovery and tap clear dalvik/cache/factory reset. Hope this works!

From a powered off state..

Press Volume up and power button. This will boot you into your boot loader. From there select recovery...

What's fishy about it? If its stolen he wouldn't be able to use it. And doing a reset erases any data he maybe trying to get to by bypassing the lock. So either way its a lose lose. Or he asked a genuine question with a realistic problem. And an easy solution
