Mark my words
Sprint will always get the Nexus phones first in the future, since they do not seem to care about controlling the Vanilla experience.
I think the wallet debacle will make the decision for them.
Any other people wanna sign on this?Nexus S 4G Launch Day Owner - 12-07-2011, 02:08 PM #2

Re: Mark my words
Actually never really thought about this but your probably correct in many ways on this...
I'm sure Google and Sammy can't be very pleased at this point with the delay Verizon is putting on getting this device officially launched on a US carrier. Then to start cutting out features like Google Wallet which doesn't bother me much but it is something that shows and utilizes a big feature with the Nexus the NFC communication chip.
I think Google & Sammy blew it by letting Verizon run with this one...

Re: Mark my words
Not very likely. Verizon's been doing this for a long time to MANY device makers (look at what they did to WebOS), and yet they all keep coming back. Why? Because Verizon has over 100 million subscribers, or almost 40% of the entire US market.

Re: Mark my words
I hope it's true...it's stupid of them to change the nexus. People buy it because they know exactly what they are buying, and now they have gone and screwed that all up!! Nexus is the official google phone, not one of verizon's imitations.
I just hope verizon's exclusivity contract isn't for too long. I'd love to get my hands on a wimax model

Re: Mark my words
Couldn't agree more, maybe Friday a Google CEO will go on Fox News.
Gotta roll out the Nexus on a LTE network, which meant VZW or ATT - so really no choice.
Perhaps VZW just mis-forcasted the DEMAND for the NEWEST with the LEAST amount of CARRIER loading. Have to assume there are many Fascinate owners that have been waiting for this.

Re: Mark my words
Wouldn't the decision to cut google wallet have been communicated before Verizon gained first position for the phone?? Just doesn't seem like google would give them the device without knowing their intent of cutting features. Idk.

Those same kids are probably going to the hundreds of free porn sites...if you child is on the internet then expect they will be introduced to much worse....
Anyway...as long as the phone sells I doubt google cares. Especially if the phone makes its way to other carriers that will allow the google wallet integration...like Sprint. - 12-07-2011, 08:46 PM #14

I agree with our mod tntdroid. We don't need the crude comments. Kids, adults whatever, Android Central takes on a more mature role here and we leave the trash talking like that for the many other forums that accept that behavior.
I'm sure Verizon is not on anyone's #1 list at the moment for holding up the release of the GN and what it is doing with the GN.

Re: Mark my words
Is the GN really on the public's radar and must buy lists though?
There's no huge media blitz for it like the Droid line, or HTC's whatever they're doing these days. If you mention Ice Cream Sandwich to 9 out of 10 consumers on the street they won't know what you're talking about.
I feel like this is yet another instance where we forum members are being "ignorant" to the fact that we know more and care more than the general public about this stuff and the big delay and the reasons for it is only upsetting us and not the millions of masses.
So in the end, Verizon will get their way and the GN will be yet another unknown AOSP device playing second fiddle to the latest HTC offering. I really wish Google would have kept their direct sales model. - 12-08-2011, 01:53 AM #18
