Any news about an ICS release for the Nexus S? Sure seems quiet..
I'm sure not hearing much. Has anyone heard anything at all? This is getting to be a bit annoying. We own the Nexus S, for God's sake!
And, yes- I know I could root, but I'm not interested. - 01-25-2012, 02:18 AM #2

That is for GSM Nexus. For Nexus S 4g you have to root it and place a custom rom on it

Agreed, however. It is disturbingly quiet for the Nexus S 4G

That is true, there are however some custom roms that work even better than the stock ICS so its a progress in the making

At this point Google should just strip out Google Wallet and Google Voice integration and give y'all the update.
Nobody would complain about that ...(•‿•) - 01-25-2012, 08:20 PM

Also stock, not interested in rooting until my warranty is up in July. Hurry up Google.

I'm getting itchy about the official update as well. Rooted my last phone and spent more time than I wanted fooling with things. I also never knew what was to blame if something was squirrelly (hardware or firmware?).
That was part of the reason I chose the nexus. I just wish we had some concept of how close we were. - 01-26-2012, 02:17 PM #12
Re: Any news about an ICS release for the Nexus S? Sure seems qui
You have misunderstood ICS. Google Voice is not integrated into ICS. For ICS, they made new APIs (that are available to any voicemail provider) that allow hooking into the main parts of the phone (missed calls, contacts, voicemail lists, etc). They also happened to fix Google Voice to take advantage of these new APIs, but Google Voice is a separate application and the API/intergration is available to Visual Voicemail, YouMail, etc as well.

If you think PICS will change your phone so drastically that it'll feel so different vs Gingerbread, you might be let down.
