Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
At this point I'm just curious to see if we get ICS before the first day I can upgrade (May 1st). I don't plan on upgrading right away...but with some LTE options coming up soon, I may jump off the Nexus train sooner than I had planned.

Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
The Galaxy Nexus will launch on April 22nd so if you want, call Sprint Retentions and ask for your upgrade to be bumped up early.
Do NOT do this until the phone launches as you'll have to use it immediately. Then you can just skip the Nexus S 4G all together and go straight to the Galaxy Nexus.
(Sprint Retentions is: 877-775-4886. Please don't abuse this number. They can do things for you that the normal Sprint number can't/won't do.)
Also, friend of mine works at a Sprint kiosk here in Omaha and he's said that the employees are able to preorder the Galaxy Nexus around April 22nd. So, it looks like those rumors about Sam's Club getting the phone then are true. So, bump your upgrade (again, when the phone releases and NOT before) and get the phone.Last edited by Ryuuie; 04-05-2012 at 11:03 AM.

Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
I'm not really interested in the Galaxy Nexus. My next phone will have to hold me for 20 months at least and that one is already six months old. I'm not usually finicky about having the "latest and greatest"...but when I'm under contract on something, I'd like it to be more current than that. Besides..."Nexus" doesn't mean much to me. I may hold up until I have a few options. The new EVO looks promising. Either way, I'll try hands-on time before committing.

Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
Yeah, the "Nexus" line doesn't really matter on CDMA anymore anyway. I'd go GSM if you want a Nexus phone.
Well, at least you know you can bump your upgrade if you DO want something in April. You should give a review or something for the EVO on Youtube if you go that route, it looks nice. - 04-05-2012, 04:01 PM #356

Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
So now that it's really out, is there anything I can do other than doing the *#*#checkin#*#* thing then going to check for an update?
Yes, I'm impatient (now).

Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
Question for the experts here.
I am no longer with Sprint (jumped ship to Verizon) but I still have my trusty Nexus S 4G, which I occasionally use on Wifi.
Is there any way I can receive the ICS update via OTA? If not, how may I obtain it?
Thanks in advance, guys. - 04-05-2012, 04:55 PM #363
Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
well if sprint's ota is the same build as what was leaked a few days ago then you guys can go ahead and do the install yourself. i'm sure you can easily find that. that's what i did and i'm pretty happy with ics. i'm not sure if it's me or not, but my battery life isn't that great. i've been lightly using it (only to text) for the past 4-5 hours and i'm already at 50%. went from 94% - 50%.

Re: ICS Update for the Nexus S 4G Discussion Thread
any way to manually update the official build instead of waiting for the ota? I'm unrooted.

My day has come! Lol.
Hope sooner than later. Having problems sending mms and such. Wanna wipe clean back to stock and get the ota.
Gonna wait till I hear it start rolling out. Ics with bugs is still better than gb for a few days. Lol. - 04-05-2012, 06:37 PM #371
