I have a nexus s and will be getting the galaxy S3. I want to give my nexus to my son. Is there anything special I need to do to prepare the phone? I assume I wipe the phone clean and of course he'll have to have a google account. Anything else?

My nexus has been a bit lagy of late so a reformat is probably not a bad idea.

Thanks!

I'd reformat it and then root it, clear the cache (part of the rooting process) and install CM9 (and turn on deep idle). CM9 will help the battery life and make it snappy. Also, CM9 has a great feature in the settings where you can turn off/on root.

Rooting is very easy... We have some handy guides depending on your computer (Windows/Linux/Mac) in the Rooting and Hacking section. Check the stickies.

Even if you choose to leave it stock OS, you can root it and install a custom kernel to get better battery life.

Thanks , I'll check those stickys out. I just need to decide if I'm going to pull the trigger on the S3 or not so i can give my son the nexus, but the feedback im hearing on the S3 poor radio worries me.
