Default GV app version that is pre-installed

So just got my NS4G and loving it. I noticed that the pre-installed version of the GV app is newer than the one in the market. Has anyone installed the version from the market and does it downgrade the version already installed? Just curious.

yeah, i think the difference is that the instaled one auto integrates for you.

I didn't want the auto integration, so I downgraded to the one in the market. That's the only difference I can tell, is the auto integration feature.

Can someone tell me please how to downgrade to GV in the market? When I go to GV in the market it just says "installed". No options to downgrade or uninstall.

Go into your manage apps and select google voice. Clear the data and tap uninstall updates and that should then let you download the app in the market as normal. That's what worked for me.

Btw when you install the market app, the old version number may not show up correctly in the manage apps screen, but you should still have non integration features in the actual app.

what exactly does "auto integration" mean? Does it totally take over the dialer and such?

How do you uninstall the Market App if you want the newer version on the phone?

I wasn't aware there was a version on the phone...

Have you tried to go to the market, menu, my downloads, open GV, uninstall?

I personally like the one from the market better, it doesn't require me to use my current cell phone number. I have the one from the market installed and it doesn't take over my phone and save my messages, call log, etc online where I have to delete it from 2 places.

In my experience with this issue, I was never able to completely uninstall the version provided directly on the phone. I had to choose to clear the installed app data, then tap uninstall updates. At this point, the app was still installed on the phone, but I was able to download the old version from the market and install it over it. I don't know if my version number changed or not, but I am now using the old app.

One note, though: I did it wrong early on and had to reset my phone to factory because clearing the data and uninstalling the updates didn't work. The first thing I did when rebuilding my phone was to do these steps and it worked. So, you might have to reset to factory to get this to work, but I hope that's not the case for you.
