I have knowledge on this stuff but i want to make sure I am doing it right for I'm doing this to someone else phone. What My question is what version of clockword recovery do I need to backup the phones image so I then can restore it if anything were to go wrong and how do I root this phone I have seen it done with z4root on youtube but not to sure it was the same phone or not. I'm not sure what model they have zvd zvh or what ever but I can find that out really soon. Thank you so much and oh this is my first post:)

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...ls670zvh-automated-no-revert-wipe-needed.html This is the thread for rooting the zvh, but it also has links needed to root the zvd baseband if that is what they are on. Just remember, dont take short cuts. Follow instructions to the letter and if you have issues, post in the appropriate thread for any help you need.

Also the Optimus S is different then many others and DO NOT use Rom Manager as there is a VERY high risk of bricking the phone. Use the following link for placing the custom recovery on (if you are doing it on zvd, as the thread for zvh is automated and will install xionia for you with the scripts included).

As for choosing roms, check each roms prerequisits as roms are baseband specific and will not work with others, so know if you are on zvd or zvh and use only roms designed for them.

thank you so much after I read up on this in the forums i put some of the pieces together I was able to root the phone with success and have root explorer for my file manager. My problem is getting Xionia rocovery to work on the phone. Am I supposed to connect it to the computer but not enable usb connections and then copy the two files over extract the image out of the .rar and then copy the command line and post it in like command.exe or do I do it on a terminal on the phone and if so is there an easy way of just copying the command from the op and paste it in the terminal for the phone. The rom im going to use for my phone is zvd basebrand. I'm almost there to getting this phone wifi tether due to sprint wanting people to pay for it and I scoped out the rom im going to use [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.4 which will enable the wifi hotspot without paying 29.99 a month for it am I on the right track thank you so much for helping me out

Unzip this file onto the top level directory of your *sdcard*

Minimal download for Recoveries and Installers (unpack to SD card)

It is from the Reference section of the ZVH rooting thread.

Then in "adb shell" or "terminal" type (do not type the $ or # symbols):
$ su
# cd /sdcard/000root
# /system/bin/sh install-xionia.sh
# exit
$ exit

aw thank you that's what I was doing i was typing those $ and # thank you so much I believe I can get the rest from here its pretty similar to other recoveries and flashing on other phones so it should not be to hard to do so

Up to you. The zip file has the recoveries and the scripts are guaranteed to enter the commands correctly. If you ever need to go back to stock recovery, you just substitute "/system/bin/sh install-vd.sh" for the xionia install script above and you are back to stock. IMO it is much less prone to errors and super simple, but I'm biased.

so there is a script that I can run from the computer to install the recovery is that what you are trying to tell me. What is the name of the script so I can run it and how do I exactly do that
