    Question Photon 3G Speed Test

I've had the Photon off and on for the last month and a half. As I'm closing in on my actual 30 day return window (and the Galaxy S2) I wanted to take a moment and see what people have experienced as far as 3G speeds with their Photon. Please post your location, latency and speed (and a picture if you like) to see how this thing does nationwide. My decision may come down to speed testing my phone next to the Galaxy S2 (refuse to call it Epic Tough 4g) in the store and see what speeds they pull. I've been pretty unhappy to date with my speeds.

I'll start things off. I'm about 20 mins outside of Philly:

    Ping: 122ms
    Download: 0.27 Mbps
    Upload: 0.27 Mbps

Sadly my two tests before this didn't even add up to .27 Mbps (.12 and .08). i do have a 1.18 and 1.25 but those were a week or two ago. I'm beginning to think there is something wrong here. i shouldn't be that slow. The amazing part is, reception is the MAX number of bars almost all of the time.

Phone signal strength and data speeds do not necessarily correlate. Because the phone won't tell you when you've downgraded to the lower speed network due to connection issues, it looks like your 3G speeds suck. Try a couple different locations (and times) and see if it improves any.

For what it's worth, I already know my 3G connection where I work is terrible, so posting my results won't do any good.

I'm in Malvern but I actually live in Burlington, NJ. My speeds there tend to be a tad better, but I will re-check tonight

Citizen Coyote, I understand that there isnt a correlation between connection quality and speed. I'd be curious what your speeds are and if your crappy speeds are like my crappy speeds.

This was my fastest test so far. Most of the time its around 1.7M download. I came from the nexus s 4G (Samsung phone) the best I ever got at this same location was. 0.6M. Download. Most of the time it got 0.3M or less. I would have a hard time buying another samsung phone. A friend has the epic 4g and he sees similar results as i did with the nexus s.
