Grey icons lossing connection!

I can't stand it anymore!!

!! My wifi and 3G icons go grey/gray and data will not work. I have researched this issue and all I see is that it means connection to the Google servers is inactive/not syncing. If I switch to airplane mode then off airplane mode it will restore the data connection. This happens several times per day and only when I am connected to wifi, work, home and public. My wifi connection is set to never go to sleep.

Please, for my sanity, can anyone help with this issue? I know it is common but was supposed to be fixed by now. Everything is up to date too. Has anyone experienced this problem and resolved it?

I started having the same issue about a month ago. I formatted my phone because of another problem and it STILL didn't fix the connection problems.

This maybe a total fluke but after I rebooted my phone, router and cable modem it seemed to fix the problem. So far two days later and works perfect. My fingers are crossed that this fixes the issue.

Do a battery pull for 5 minutes

or pull battery and hold the power button down for 15 secs, re-install battery & try it

A battery pull will clear the cache which in turn may have corrupted your phone, which is common

I get the same problem, but for me it also prevents me from taking or making calls because even though I show I have full signal, the bars are grayed out. Switching it to Airplane mode doesn't seem to fix it. I have only had success with rebooting the phone to get things working properly which is a pain the the **** to have to always do.

Don't get me wrong, I love this phone, but I have had just too many quirky issues that make me want to swap it out for something different.

I did the battery pull and hold down the power button for more than 15 seconds. I don't understand the idea behind this but it didn't work. I'm still experiencing grey icons and inability to connect to the net and make phone calls.
