Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
Hello guys, take a look at this page:
The main goals of the campaign is to have a unified front in submission of requests for Ice Cream Sandwich & Jellybean updates, source code, and unlocked bootloaders for the owners of Atrix MB860, Atrix MB861, Atrix ME860, Electrify MB853 ,Photon MB855, DROID X2, MB870, XT882, MT870. If everybody is one banner we get more petition signatures, better press coverage and better web saturation.
This is meant to be a big campaign, make your voice heard!Last edited by christianttt; 10-04-2012 at 03:10 AM.

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
I have to say, my MoPho is my first Android experience (coming from BB). I left BB because updates were so slow. So, I bought the latest and greatest Android at the time; only to find out that, come the first major upgrade, my device is no longer being supported. Yet, and please understand I'm definitely not an iFan, people with older iPhone's get an upgrade within a day or two of the release of the i5. This is rather frustrating. I understand all Android devices operate slightly different, but if your device can handle the upgrade you should be able to receive the latest and greatest.

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
I had the mopho at one point and it was a beast for its time, my sister and dad both have the droidx2 and from what I've seen both phones can easily handle ics/jb. It's a shame most carriers refuse to support android phones past 9-12 months considering your average person can only afford them if they get them on a subsidized two year contract. They should atleast support the phone for two years after its release date.

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
The consequence is that they are going to lose customers, but I think it's a numbers game for them. The Atrix, Photon 4G and Electrify obviously didn't sell well enough that the lost revenue adds up to how much it would cost them to update the phones in their calculations. Sad.

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
I set up a new account here just so I could say thank you for your support. News of the ICS update change is on over sixty news sites and blogs. Of those sites, twelve of them mention Support My Moto or our partnered campaign. There is still a lot of work for me to do and with the help of the Android community it has made things a little easier. I will be at the Big Android BBQ this year (scored late reg tickets) wearing my "Support My Moto" t-shirt. Hope to see you there.

Shame on Motorola. I will not recommend their products anymore and will certainly not purchase.

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
It seems like Google is focusing on Samsung devices. You would think, that since they purchased Motorola Mobile that they would at least support it with updates to ICS. If they intend to deny us Jelly Bean.

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
UPDATE:
"Update My Moto" has closed their campaign. Their site now redirects to supportmymoto.com. Even though I felt the leak was not enough, as it only covered a very limited number of devices, I stated that I would support their decision.
With supportmymoto.com (yours truly) attending the , please bump the various threads and spread the word.
Yet another reason to spread the word!
Google is stated as saying the following;
"Google is aware of this and new features on its latest Android mobile OS -- Jelly Bean 4.1 -- aim to beef up the system's security over past OS iterations. With Jelly Bean's design, Google hopes to defend against hacks that install viruses, along with other malware."
Again, the call goes out to supporters to spread the word and I hope to see some of you at the Big Android BBQ! - 10-17-2012, 09:17 AM #14

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
The thing with the campaign is that it's a double edged sword. Either they update, release source or unlock bootloaders or seriously lose sales. They have already lost millions in sales and it keeps getting worse. If only 25% of the affected users switch to a different manufacturer, that is at least hundred thousand sales moto just lost. Once Moto's Q4 sales come out, manufacturers will then think twice about doing this again (well at least until the public forgets about it).

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
Joke of the Day!
How do you install the Google Calender App on an 8 month old Tegra2 Moto?
You hit it with a hammer and by a 2 year old HTC Incredible S!
(Out of 44 phones released by major manufacturers in 2011 that have been upgraded to ICS or better, only two are Moto's. This isn't even including the Nexus line. HTC, LG, Samsung and even ZTE, of all people, seem to be able to upgrade their Tegra2 phone to ICS. Wow Moto, even ZTE can upgrade their phones to ICS where you can't!) - 10-20-2012, 11:25 AM #19
Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
Moto really dropped the ball!
I don't want no $100- or a sliding keyboard Photon Q crap...
They don't have anything decent for Sprint coming up yet!
MOTO YOU FAIL!!!

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
I just got an email from Moto offering the $100 credit when upgrading to another Moto phone (new Jelly Bean upgradable phone to add salt to the wound) , specifically pushing the Q and addressing me as a Photon owner. This seems to possibly address the concern that only Verizon would participate. Still sucks as the Q is not much of an upgrade for me and there is no other Moto Sprint phones on par with the Photon. Hope that Mars continues to make headway with Support My Moto.

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
What's even better is that the credit program launched the day of the Android BBQ and Moto failed to show for there "Developer Session"

Re: Support my Moto: A unified campaign to request ICS and JB
Yea...that's what happened to me! I told them they're stupid for thinking the Q would be an upgrade for my Photon! And also because I'm still under contract 'til September 2013!
They just don't care about us as customers. Oh well, they'll never (or at least in a very, VERY long time) see any money from me or my family and friends.
Sent from my MB855 (Photon 4G that Stupid Motorola will not upgrade to ICS or any other newer form of Android because they're a bunch of lying bastards and deserve to go to hell!) using Android Central ForumsIf I'm very clever, and I'm more than clever, I'm brilliant! I might just save the World, or rip it apart!
