Here's an apk I found when browsing other forums. Installing it will disable the camera shutter sound (no root required). Make sure you have "Unknown sources" checked under application settings.

I use camera360 which takes better pictures than the stock app and it doesn't make a sound just in case people are wary of this.
However I used this on my photon 4g and it does exactly what he says it does.
Did not work on my Note 2

For the note, easiest way is to root and get rid of the shutter sounds in root explorer

No need to do all those complicated stuff (I am talking about Note 2 only)
You'll love this:
Change the sound icon either to "Vibrate" or "Mute" - when taking photographs -- as simple as that !!!
( you find this icon beside the Wifi, GPS, Screen Rotation, Bluetooth etc icons)

It doesnt work.
Even when i have my headphones in I can still hear the sound.
Dude, didn't work on my samsung galaxy epic stock camera or my PCS camera I installed.
