I can now confirm Chicago is surrounded, but it hasn't permeated the loop yet. From the Indy border, around the south and up the NW suberbs and the lake front are about 90% covered, though.

    It's gorgeous

Why all the complaints about the loop??? If I can get 4g while I'm playing ingress downtown on my Gnex it should be easier for a sgs3 or a note2. But yeah we are covered though I get lte everywhere I go south east west north.

Getting pissed. The 3G speed is painfully slow and I live in the subs of washington dc. Unlike vzw you can have a 4g signal and literally 1 block to the left or right it goes back to 3g.

There are spots in and around dc lighting up...

If you're in the Montgomery county / no.va. area, you should be getting it soon, consistently.

Sprint is activating pre launch LTE in all their markets once it reaches a certain percentage complete (40% or so) so that people can begin accessing it. They did the same thing here in Chicago. You can turn off LTE if you prefer to stay on 3G until it is more complete, but if you're in an area where they activated pre launch, then you're probably better off with it on.

Good news is they have been unrolling fast once it starts. You should be a month or two out. Check the boards at s4gru.com if you want more details.

Also, sensorly is a great user generated app to see where it has been used near you.

Only turn off with sensorly was every time I started moving, it's there consuming battery... I know it says it won't consume more than 10% but it also told me it consumed 14% before I froze it...

Yeah, I shut off reporting entirely after initial mapping. You can even just check the website. It's just nice to see where people are ACTUALLY using services instead of where the carrier says it's available.

Took a look at user reported Sprint LTE connections as of 3/10/13.

    Coverage Maps | 4G - USA - Sprint | Sensorly

    Los Angeles / San Diego

    San Francisco / Bay Area

Yeah, it's not solid in all places though. I was just in San Francisco for Engadget Expand and the LTE was useless on my Galaxy Nexus 98% of the time. My buddy had an iPad mini and that radio served him a little better, but I never saw anything higher than 6Mbps.

I mean, it's definitely close, just don't expect to have it just because it's on sensorly's map just yet. It might be another month or two of work away from being properly usable.

There are spots in and around Baltimore that I'm in the day prior on 3g and the next have lte, but it's early stage and only at 8mbps dl tops. At my house, just south of Baltimore, I'm seeing 25+ consistently, and have been since December (when I got my note)

I just participated in a contract discussion with Sprint for my company and they said Network Vision is 100% done around Chicago and 90% in Chicago proper.

This is not true, but I just take it as hyperbole.

It's actually quite true given with the internal information that S4GRU has acquired from sources within sprint and contractors in the Chicago area. Network Vision upgrades (the physical work) is aprox 90-95% complete. Active LTE is around on 60-70% of the towers with many still awaiting fiber or microwave backhaul. They cannot and will not activate 4g without upgraded back haul.

I'm starting to notice Sprint's 4G LTE in scattered areas in Irvine and Yorba Linda, California. Also drove through an area in Alhambra, CA a few months ago that picked up LTE.

It doesn't look like the list in the original post has been updated for quite some time. I've seen WiMAX in many more areas of Southern California.

So in the last few months NYC has fleshed out nicely. I have 4G in my bedroom in my apartment in queens. I have 4G at this park i take my lunches at in midtown manhattan. I have 4G on Randall's island and parts of Brooklyn. It seems to be getting better daily and its nice that i can watch a video without buffering while on my commute.

Some speed test. Its not absurd numbers, but anything above 3Mbps is good for me:

I love seeing everybody talking about it popping up in their area. The rest of the internet gets tiring just seeing everybody rant about not having it. I have had it since October and it is awesome and still improving. I'm excited for everyone getting it soon.
