Greensboro, NC was added as part of the Triad, meaning that in addition to Greensboro, the cities of High Point and Winston-Salem also have 4G coverage.

There are a lot more cities that have it but it isn't activated. It's going to be a major roll out over the next few months. They want the EVO to have 4G where ever possible.

Highest speed coverage gets about 3-5 mile radius per site, maybe more if flat with few trees. You might get signal more than that but probably not good performance. So no go for you.
Check map here...
If you look at Lubbock, TX as an example, you can see a circle W of town that gets about 5 mile radius with expected 'best' coverage. - 05-03-2010, 02:56 PM #15(•‿•)

Don't forget a nice chunk of Southern New Jersey has coverage! .... We're in the Phila, Pa market and it extends all the way tot he street I live on. Can't wait for the phone to go live and give it a try. (And don't forget you still have pretty fast 3G when we're not in a 4G area). This is one guy ready to jump to Sprint from AT&T when this rig arrives.

I wouldn't bet on it but it would be hilarious if they pull that off. I think ATT 3G covers 230m population (claimed). It would be a challenge to hit 150-170m pops for WiMAX by end of year. Once you get past 150m urbanized pops, the population starts to thin out quick, meaning many more sites per 1m pops.
But Sprint/Clear will have a lot of small towns. - 05-03-2010, 03:19 PM #18
I got's to have me some 4G in Michigan. Please!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd guess the cities announced so far are those that have the logistics in place to perform the rollout. The biggest challenge is backhaul. They may have backhaul access lined out in some cities more than others. But they are likely doing the preliminary planning in virtually all major metros, then announcing the ones that has the logistics worked out (and the funds available to execute rollout).

Cmon Nashville,TN! I get the Clearwire sales brochures all the time. Hopefully it'll be here to use on the HTC Evo when it's released

Just understand that what has been announced as "coming 2010" is a significant understatement. Much more of the population will be covered by years end that what we have been told, Sprint is going to shock many of us.

A lot of these cities are going to have it by the time the EVO launches. We'll see what develops.
