    Default Sprint Stopping Unlimited 4G

According to Phonescoop.com and confirmed on the Sprint site:

"Sprint has announced via its customer support web site that it will institute caps on its existing unlimited 4G data plans starting in November. This change applies to all customers (no one is grandfathered in) who have mobile broadband devices such as tablets, netbooks, notebooks, USB cards, or Mobile Hotspot devices. The change does not apply to smartphone plans. Moving forward, the 3GB of 3G data with unlimited 4G plan now offers 3GB of 3G/4G data combined; the 5GB of 3G data with unlimited 4G plan now offers 5GB of 3G/4G data combined; and the 10GB of 3G data with unlimited 4G plan now offers 10GB of 3G/4G data combined per month. Overage charges cost $0.05 per megabyte for those who exceed their monthly limits. The cost of these monthly plans is not changing, but the caps go into effect during customers' first billing cycle in November."

I wonder when they will now stop unlimited data for the phones?

Because everyone would leave. Sprint is cheaper but not much cheaper than ATT&T and Verizon. Its their unlimited data for phones which makes them appealing. If they were to get rid of that everyone would leave because their network is inferrior to ATT&T and verizon. Especially when it comes to 4g.

Can we get out of their contract and cancel our service due to this change? I signed up for service with them because of the unlimited data.

Only the MiFi, phone's data plan is unaffected...for now.

Well, looks like it's time to get off this sinking ship.

That's discouraging, I'll have to debate whether I want to continue to give Sprint $120/month. I like my Evo, but if they are going to change my contract without agreement between both parties then I may not continue with them.

Will this affect users of USB for easy tether and PDANet?

I'm hoping that when Sprint users read this, they'll understand that this doesn't affect normal data usage on smartphones(Excluding phones with mobile hotspots). As for now, Sprint assured its customers that they have no intention of capping their unlimited data on smartphones. So, I'm not worried about this news.
Yes, it's true that Verizon has the better network and data coverage, however _ by the end of 2013 - we'll see about that. The other carriers will be jealous of Sprint's awesome 'Light speed 3g/4g combination™.' Folks..patience is needed at this time. The best is yet to come √√

What does this have to do with your phone plan? I Nothing. Go to Verizon and pay more for less. Do it. I dare you.

Why? Your phone plan is the same. Do you pay sprint for mifi or hotspot? Do you have an air card in your laptop? I don't think so.

To clarify for everyone, you still have unlimited data when using your phone.

The only exception is if you have been paying the extra $30/month to turn your phone into a hotspot. If you have been doing this you will not being getting unlimited data for the devices you have been linking to your hotspot.

Hope this clarifies it for everyone.

We have been seeing a lot of changes to sprint plans like the increased act fees and the premiere going away. They did this to make up for the costs to maintain the network for unlimited data on phones. From what my insider has told me is that unl data for phones is here to stay on sprint. That's all I personally care about. Tablets and laptops can always find an unsecured wifi network in a mcdonalds or panera bread.

I said this before, but it bears repeating.

I spoke to sprint customer service, and they said (and i quote), "So long as the iphone people don't screw up our network, we have no plans for doing away with unlimited data."

Take that as you will. Heh

Your crazy to believe anything that comes out of a customer service reps mouth about anything. On anther note if sprint is stupid enough to do away with unlimited data then I'm leaving for vzw.

What I'm wondering is whether or not people with old unlimited 3g data card plans are also getting bumped off of those?
