I may be a lone voice here, but I am going to say no....at least for awhile.

    Why -

I have yet to hear of a Wimax version...and given that Wimax is on its way out, I can't imagine that a version with such a radio is a top priority for Samsung.

Sprint also just got the GS2...and Photon....and Evo 3D...and Nexus 4G...and iPhone 4S, so they aren't exactly at a loss for a decent flagship device.

Of course, if Samsung makes it, my guess is that Sprint will sell it. That's Sprint's charm. Their handset QA department appears to just be a guy named Randy...whose testing cycle typically involves a quick glance and him then saying, "Yeah, that looks like a phone. Do it." I just wish that guy liked the Pre 3.

Is it possible to make a Wimax device that is upgradable to LTE? I find it hard for Sprint to make sales numbers if people know they are phasing out this year.

Sprints eventually switching their network to LTE most likely sometime next year. Its not likely you'll see it anytime soon but its something to think about.... you never know.

from what I have read, it's a simple software reboot to change a Wimax tower into an LTE tower, but for phones it requires a hardware change in the chip. So I would so don't count on any phone getting changed from Wimax to LTE.
