WHEN and IF Unlimited Data Ends

Question to the masses here.

IF and WHEN unlimited data ends with Sprint do you think they will grandfather in all of us current customers or do like they did with the mobile hotspot and flip us the bird and say you are now tiered data?

When the change happened with mobile hotspot I called to see if I would be grandfathered in retention's / account services said sorry no one will be grandfathered in everyone will have to follow the 5GB cap.
I asked her why they were not doing like all ATT and Verizon did and grandfather current users into unlimited data. Her response was short of laughing at me and said "Where are going to go that has unlimited data? Exactly therefore we do not have to there is no risk in business."

So with that in mind as there "business" model we do not have to; do you think IF and WHEN unlimited data dies on phones they will grandfather us in or do you think Dan Hesse is going to hand a gun to the Sprint logo and say place it in your mouth and pull the trigger it's unloaded promise, and then walk out of his office laughing down the hallway. lol

They will have to grandfather you in or let you out of your contract.

SPRINT would be smart to grandfather current contracts.

If they don't... they will be out of business..
They already have the slowest data out of all the wireless providers..
Sprint really isn' t much cheaper than AT&T at this point (if you get employee discounts).

For alot of people that unlimited data is the only thing keeping them with sprint.

NOW if Sprint would say unlimited data up to 10 gigs. I would be fine with that.
These people bragging..I hit 20 gigs last month!!!!. There comes to a point when there is using data, then there is abusing it. No wonder sprints data speeds are so bad..

But with Sprints track record so far... they have not Grandfathered anyone for any if the changes so far. So it really doesn' t look good.

Could be sprint thinking... if we take everyone off unlimited. It will free up bandwidth and speed up our network... only time will tell.

they will not let you out of contract for not grandfathering. They said data is a feature on the hot spot and phones. Idk how they can call it a feature on a hot spot but they do since aircards can send and receive texts.

There contract states they can change feature guidelines at anytime and it is not breaking contract since u agree to that

Using an advertised feature is never "abuse". I'm on track to hit almost 20 gigs this month, how exactly have i abused the service I paid for? Am I abusing my Comcast home broadband connection by downloading 200GB last month? How is it different because it's mobile? Mobile is the future and everyone seems very reluctant to accept that fact. Not everyone can or does use Wifi.

Between downloading and syncing 20 Podcasts, Amazon Mp3, Pandora, DI FM and youtube, 20GB isn't a big deal. Journos and users who keep saying 2GB is enough need to wake up to the future. I don't think I try to use data, but I use my phone for what it's capable of. Some months it's 10GB, some it's 15GB. I don't care becuase Sprint contiually advertises "true" unlimited.

If and when Sprint loses unlimited, I'm going to Metro or Cricket and getting a tablet. Having a smartphone with ridiculous bandwith limitations is silly. We don't accept a silly 50GB cap at home, why a 2GB cap on mobile with absurd overages?

This topic is nothing more than pure speculation. The "if & when" is a cloud in the sky with no supporting evidence from the Carrier as to how this would even play out.

This is can say with confidence, Sprint will do whatever it is there going to do.

And for anyone who has actually ever read the Terms & Conditions of their subscriber agreement would know that it specifically reads they may change anything and everything whenever they choose to do so, with or without notice, period.

Just because you may or may not agree with any change, guess what, your Signature says you Do!

The only concrete reason they can let you out of your contract, is if your service address resides within an area the carrier does not provide service in. Never because they change the terms and conditions, because they Can, and you signed yourself away at their mercy.

Unless the wifi hotspots was a contracted feature, then it wouldn't be grandfathered in. Unlimited data is, that's what I signed my contract for.

The only agreement your signature binds 'You' to, is that you will remain a customer for 24 months. That's not canceling or porting out your cell phone number. That is all.

Why do consumers believe that they are signing a contract for specific features/plans? because it's simply not the case within the entire cell phone industry.

Let me be brief: If the carrier wants to put ever single subscriber on a different plan this coming Friday just because its Friday, they have the right to do so, and your signature gave it to them.

True the terms and conditions are subject to change. But if they make a change and it directly affects how much you pay each month. Thats a material change on their part and voids your contract.

Such as if they get rid if their unlinited plans and dont grandfather anyone and put them on a new data plan. Naterial change right there.

... all that means is they have to notify you of the change. They don't have to let you out of your contract.

If it is a material change and causes a change in how much you pay that is grounds to let you out if your contract. Case in point, the current changes they are making with the discounting on additional lines on a family plan. Since they are no longer giving the discounts to the secondary lines, thats an increase in my bill. I can call if i wanted to switch to another carrier and have them waive the etf based on that change. Granted i only have 30 days from the say i am notified to do so but still.
