9 Years With Sprint - Won't Be 10
I have been a huge Sprint supporter for longer than my oldest underwear. Yes, it's been a while. Loved the plans, phones, coverage, speeds, rates.
I begrudgingly put up with increased fees, eliminated plans, elimination of loyal customer perks, listening to their CEO speaking more and more like a slimy politician and slower speeds.
What's getting me to quit them? I have been without cell signal at my house since the end of March, and almost unuasable signal at work since April. The 2 places I use it most. After 3 calls to complain, they finally told me they are upgrading towers in the area, and apparently disabled what they had before having the new equipment in place.
Sprint's fix for the house was a one time $15 credit, and then later an Airave. Nothing for my work. Multiple calls, and promises of better service, with the most recent promise of better quailty service at my house as of 6/16. Nope. Unplug the Airave, and 0 bars. Oh yeah, I live in suburban Chicago. Not in the cornfields. No offense to corn. I love corn.
I'm now shopping for a new carrier. More expensive, but better service far outweighs lower prices but no service, everyday.
Yes, I'm whining. It's allowed after 9 years of paying my bill on time and referring customers.
I want a new S III, but not on a network that won't even tell me when I can use it's best feature! As tech saavy as I am, I don't know how to port my number. Never had an interset in doing it before.
Being a Sprint fan is like being a Chicago Cub fan. It's like they are TRYING to make me leave them. Enough. Whining eliminated.Never motivate an id10t because after that you will have a motivated id10t. See troll... - 06-24-2012, 11:31 AM #2

LOL.. Gotcha friend... I know the neighborhood...
Yes it is sad how we are in very populated areas with tons of big business and yet we struggle. Its not like we are forgotten parts of the Illinois map, our towns were even specifically named in the Network Vision upgrades for LTE & 3G improvements so its not like were in the middle of the corn field with our tin foil hats on :P

Re: 9 Years With Sprint - Won't Be 10
There has ALWAYS been a deadspot in what our household refers to as the Weber triangle. I-55 & Weber Road. Getting on or off the interstate has meant a dropped call 80% of the time. But now the whole area has gone down to the sewage treatment plant, and even there it stinks.

Re: 9 Years With Sprint - Won't Be 10
I hear ya... I know that stretch of I-55... I can always tell when the wife is hit that point in her travels home when she drops call consistently entering that area... Its been like that for years now...
Anyways, sorry to see another Sprint customer go but I fully understand your reasoning... I would go to another carrier myself but with 4 phones on the family plan (2 of them my daughters) I can't afford Big Red or AT &T's costs with their tiered data packages which I would be killed with the amount of data the kids go through..

Check t mobile and their coverage rates.
They are actually cheaper if you get insurance.

I'm in Plainfield also and I'm in the same boat. I'm off 59 and Theodore. I have filed complaints with the BBB and the FCC, corporate got a hold of me quick!
I'm ready to jump to Verizon, their new plan would save me $10/month with 2 smartphones with unlimited talk/text and 6gb shared data. Check their Share Everything plan details on their website. - 07-02-2012, 01:10 PM

Re: 9 Years With Sprint - Won't Be 10
UPDATE:
Just got off the phone with sprint. Was told even though I get no service at my house, and spotty coverage at work, I have to pay the full ETF of $280.00 (pro-rated from start of contract: 9/11). Nope, won't reduce it. Filing this with the Beter Buisness Bureau:
Service (voice & data) in my home & work areas has become unusble since late March 2012. I brought my phone in for service, and was told it was the cell towers in my area, that there was an upgrade in progress, and service would be restored "soon". 2 weeks later I called, was told the same thing, service /upgrades on the towers in my area would be completed "soon". I was given a one time $15 credit for my troubles.I called again in May for the same reason, and was given a device to connect to my home internet so I can make calls at my home. This device is dependant on my having pay someone else for internet seervice. I was also told at this time that tower upgrades in my area would be completed, and service restored by 6/16/12. It's July 2nd, and I still have no service once I walk out my front door. Today, I'm told by customer service that if I want to leave them, I have to pay an early termination fee of $280, for a service that does not work? I will be with Sprint 9 years this December. I feel disrespected as a customer.
Will keep you posted on my progress.Never motivate an id10t because after that you will have a motivated id10t. See troll... - 07-02-2012, 01:23 PM #11
When you decide on the carrier to switch to will be when your number is ported over. You do nothing. When you sign up give them the number. You will need to take a copy of your sprint bill with you. When your number is ported that also notifies sprint you have ended service.

I was just in my local store here in Florida and they told me they are sitting down the Nextel network and transitioning all of those towers to Sprint towers so if you can hang on it should get better.

I have a Tom-Tom that does the same thing, but the traffic data appears to update only about every 20 minutes. It will want to reroute me around traffic that's not there by time I get there. On the other hand, Google maps traffic on my phone is almost to the minute, when my %$#$^&* !@#%^**(^&% data works.
I was told by Sprint CS that LTE was going live by me 6/16/12. Obviously not true. A pretty good website mentioned frequently here (sorry, no link), says September. I'm not going to wait till then.Last edited by scaryhumor; 07-03-2012 at 09:46 AM.

Re: 9 Years With Sprint - Won't Be 10
I understand your pain. I was a Sprint customer for 4 years. After our move we could not make phone calls from our house - no problems for people with V or AT&T. For a year I got the same story every few weeks - we are working on it - will get it done soon, etc... Finally had enough and switched. 5 years later people with Sprint still have problems calling from my neighborhood.

Re: 9 Years With Sprint - Won't Be 10
My contract is not up until 9/15/13. So they have until then to get their act together. As of now my mind is already set on leaving. I have been with sprint for about 10 years.

I jumped ship yesterday. I'm a new Verizon customer. Grabbed an S3 at Best Buy. Not a word from Sprint since I filed a complaint with the BBB almost 2 weeks ago.
