I'm a newb and just got this phone. Google voice does thing's like navigate and Google search just fine and it understands me just fine. But it doesn't recognize any of my contacts when I tell it to call, text or email. Suggestions?

If I understand your question correctly, no, Google Voice does not take voice commands. Voice search within GV also does not seem to do a whole lot for me either.

By default (AT&T Atrix2) pressing the home key twice rapidly will bring up the voice command tool to get at what you want perhaps. If not, it can be set to go to voice commands through Settings > Applications > Double Tap Home Launch.
