lighted buttons

I've searched for the answer and failed. This may be a little difficult since I don't know the lingo. I have an Atrix - I'll get to the Atrix 2 in a minute. At the bottom of the phone are 4 buttons - Menu/Home/Back/Search. These buttons stay lit the entire time the phone screen is lit. Good idea.
My wife just bought an Atrix 2. Very nice. But the 4 buttons on the bottom of the phone stay lit for very few seconds when the phone is turned on, then go out. Not helpful in less than ideal lighting. I have searched all her phone's settings, I think, and can't find how to keep those buttons lit the entire time the screen is lit. Guidance please.

Same problem here ... on Atrix 2. (Including not finding instructions.)

The buttons only seem to light when the phone is in a "dark" place. I have tried to trick it by covering the webcam and/or camera ports with my finger, but this does not work. It must sense the ambient light from other source ... possible the entire screen.

Go to display and change from auto adjust to whatever percentage of brightness works for you.

There are two sensors on the top of the screen just below the on/off switch. Cover with finger and the buttons will light up.
