Hi there

long time reader first time poster here... well known over at crackberry.com :)

searched and found nothing...

running the latest gingerbread AT&T official on a AT&T atrix (currently unlocked and running on the Rogers network in canada)

i seem to be having an issue with my Atrix lately(or at least been noticing).... normally when i am connected to the data networks fine, my signal meter and H+ are is blue...

what has been happening is if i leave the phone alone for some time (usually 20+), it just disconnects from the data services... all my signal meter and H+ meter turns grey... when i "wake" the device it takes a couple seconds to kick back to blue... when this is going on i go into my gtalk and i see it had signed me out and that its trying to sign me back in.... same thing with alot of other apps, like my issimo app, its been sign out, or hasnt received any new updates since it turned "grey".

how do i stop this? is this a bug? something wrong with the OS? will i have to reflash?

any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

update:

had battery save mode on nighttime, so i thought that was the issue... so i changed it to performance and doing that had no effect at all... still losing data after a while of it being locked...

any ideas? could this maybe be some residual affects from a battery saver app i add?

i really would not like to reload the OS...

anyone got any ideas?
 
maybe its a problem with rogers data delivery? you should call them and aks. I mean my guess is that there maybe some inconsistencies between latest att update and rogers network...
 
maybe... i know the apn is correct... and rogers and at&t share the same bands... might give them a try...

would a factory reset maybe help?
 
dial *#*#4636#*#* and check what you have in "set preferred network type" I got GSM/CDMA auto (PRL). did you have this problem immediatly after the update or you noticed it recently. a factory reset might prolly help.. but not too sure...
 
I did that and have it set to the same as you.

As for when I noticed it. I can't be 100% sure... I know I first noticed it like 2 days ago... Now whether that was while I was on froyo or after I upgraded to gingerbread I don't know...

I think I may have solved it tho... Just testing stuff to see. I'll post back with my results. In the meanwhile I hope other have some other ideas...

On AT&T in northwest US. Have same problem after update. My Adidas walk app. Stops after 15update min. I know how long because the partial walk is saved. Waiting for ideas.
 
I don't know, I had sort of the same problem with my internet shutting off after long periods of non use and also randomly.
Turns out Gingerbread put my phone on Battery Saver mode.......
I put it in Performance mode and wala No data cut offs.
 
Is background data enabled in menu>accounts and sync? I had the same problem on my epic 4g and that fixed it
 
Data is set to all the time and its in performance mode now for battery saving.
 
Oh ok well i see its a different thing then with the epic. Try to pull the battery and sim for a few minutes and put it back in
 
I know my wifi was set to sleep after awhile in the advanced wifi settings before. But that shouldn't cause you to have no data at all, I guess, just no wifi.
 
k well i think i have it figured out...

not sure if it was maybe an app that i was auto killing...

or if i had just needed to re-enter the APNs... but now it doesnt seem to be doing it anymore...

if it comes back and starts doing this again, i'll post back...
