In need of an ATT phone cause I am going to my parents fam plan in a week.. I guess a $10 candybar is my best best until then.

sometime in January. they said in the press release that it would be "in the coming weeks"

i hope so! im ready been eligible for upgrade since june. I was going to leave for an android device like the evo but nw im staying for the ATRIX!!!

Looks like it'll be sometime this month or very early February based on what we heard at CES.

I think its sooner maybe Late this month early Feb but definetly not march. AT&T has to compete with verizon on this 1/11/11 announcement. Which many believe will be the iphone so they should diminish this by releasing a new platform phone that will be its new "iPhone"

Why did they choose to go with a 5 mp camera on this though....I dont get why its a beast on everything but skimp on the camera when others have 8mp? Could it be better quality even though lower mp?

What about the VGA front facing camera, I read on Moto's site it will only be 0.3MP. Hopefully this will be good enough quality for video chat at 640x480 res.

It should be fine and with a lower Res camera you wont use as much data streaming it. If you want to test it I believe the iPhone 4 front camera is VGA

640x480 is ~ to 0.3MP by definition. 640*480=307200 pixels, 1Mpixel = 10^6 pixels, so 640x480 is 307200/1000000 ~ .3072 Mpixel which rounds to 0.3 MP (nearest tenth)

I suspect that AT&T will announce a release date after Verizon announces the iPhone. I really hope this is out within the month. I am ready to ditch my Storm ASAP. For the first time AT&T has the top tier Android phone. Verizon may be getting the six month old iPhone4...but I think AT&T came out on top by getting the better of the two new Motorola Android devices. I also hope AT&T offers presales. I want to order this online in advance so that I am not standing in line on release day.

I wish this phone was launched by Verizon/Sprint and not AT&T...but I'll have to switch to AT&T just because this is technically the best phone announced at CES '11 and will be a game changer in the coming months!

The only real difference between the Bionic and Atrix is the extra RAM, and to be fair, as far as I'm concerned that's nothing. The fact that it's sporting DDR2 RAM will allow it to outperform any other phone out there, even ones that also have 512MB.

Honestly .. look at the iphone 4s 5mp camera vs any of the 8 mp ... the iphone 4s wins hands down every time. its all about the sensor, and if moto did it right, this will look very nice even with a 5mp camera.

Seriously. People think bigger numbers are usually better. I mean how many people actually use a front facing camera, yet there are many who will complain if a phone doesn't have one, or is not 10megapixel HD.

A 5 mp HD rear camera is all I need and as for a vga front camera, it'll come in handy the 5 times in my life I'll prob ever use it (including showing it off to people).

Got 6 days to return my Captivate, and it's going back, talked to the ATT rep today and he said return and wait for the Atrix..He thinks the anouncment of iphone going to Verizon will speed up the release date of the Atrix...

Sweet...as long as it's out before the end of February. I'm going on vacation and want the HD video recording (not to mention 2 weeks of being able to play with a new phone!)

Hopefully AT&T will have some type of announcement this week - to take a bit of the news from Verizon after today's event. AT&T can still boast about its faster 3G network and of course make big news about the Atrix being the world's most powerful mobile phone.

For all the news articles saying that the iPhone will cause Android sales to flatline or drop - I don't buy it. Look at the success of Android phones on T-Mobile and Sprint. There were many people that simply want an Android phone. I remember when the EVO came out last year - it was a huge success because it was equal to the iPhone in many ways and in some ways it was better.

Same goes for the Atrix. Show me the iPhone's laptop dock, its gig of RAM, its 4" screen, its car dock or its ability to truly multi task.

For all those reason - and more - I think the Atrix has the ability to be a huge success even in the face of the iPhone coming to Verizon. I am a Verizon customer who's contract expired back in November. I do not want the iPhone and will be leaving Verizon for the Atrix. Had the Atrix come to Verizon - I would have stayed...but it didn't.

Now I just hope we get a release date soon. Hopefully before the end of the month!!!

Verizon on Iphone later this month early next!! Its confirmed!! Now the atrix as to be more than likely released before the iphone on verizon or AT&T will more than likely suffer alot of losses on customers.
