Is the Atrix LTE compatible?

When purchasing my Atrix yesterday the guy that sold it to me said it was LTE compatible and would work when LTE was available but for now just enhanced HSPA would work.

I'm not in the habit of believing anything sales people or CSR's say so I have to verify if this is true.

I was in looking at the Atrix yesterday and the guy I was talking to told me the same thing. He apparently believes that the dual core processor will allow the phone to take advantage of LTE.

I just let him go on and on until he had run out of things to say.

No it it isnt advertised to have a 700 Mhz Antenna, so one would assume that it doesn't have LTE capability.

No, the Atrix does not support LTE. It's "4G" is riding on the 3G aircwave's and being called "4G" because of apparent enhancements to the 3G network. Good luck getting anything close to 4G speeds though.

Same moniker that T-Mobile is using.

Interesting when I bought the phone is asked the salesman is this LTE capable phone which he said yes. Now ATT releases a statement that my market will be LTE this summer but they don't have any LTE phones WTF I thought my Atrix was an LTE device. How dishonest is that anyone else ticked off like me. I like the phone but got it because I thought it was capable of LTE speeds.

First rule of buying a sells phone. NEVER and I repeat NEVER trust the sells men. Do your own research when you go in. Cell phone store should be at most now days there to make the final choice between maybe a few devices.
I know when I went and got my Atrix the guy ask what I was looking for and I said I want the Motorola Atrix and this was with out even going to any of the phones. I knew exactly what I wanted. Made his job pretty easy. Just had to over ride the account to give me an upgrade a few days early. Followed by the mess of my number and account being an NBA account so it is a little messier to deal with.

The box itself should say what interfaces and radio bands it is able to communicate on.

The problem with calling a device 4g is that there is no standard for 4g well there is but the carriers have side stepped that one. So short of looking at the antennas installed or asking a sales person how do you know. I don't think I'm dumb consumer and I missed this one so will a lot of other people. The salesman should know if it's not lte capable or not. It's not liked I asked is this phone 4g.

There's 4G and there's 4G LTE. Don't get it twisted.

There's the EVO 4G and the Epic 4G. Then there's the Thunderbolt 4G LTE.

Then we have the Atrix 4G. NOT Atrix 4G LTE.

I too asked and was told that it was LTE compatable. The website is deliberately misleading:

yea im kind of pissed but i kinda knew when I bought it I still wanted it since it has teh best hardware specs and I can't complain it is a monster when it comes to running tons of apps and video and games.

Now that really is misleading. I would use that as a reason to demand a refund without an early termination fee if you bought it thinking it was LTE compatible.

ya know i heard a salesperson telling a customer the inspire is LTE compatible when i was picking up my infuse and chuckled.

i am curious was the store you were at a the wireless experience at&t retailer? as in a non corporate store? because mine was so i am curious if they are floating some misinformation.

The simple answer is no, the Atrix does not have a 700mhz LTE transceiver.

Complaining about a sales person who did not fully understand the specifications of a phone? Sure, but don't expect anything other than your feedback to be documented and the sales reps in that particular store to be coached on use of correct terminology.

Specific to AT&T if they say "4g = HSPA+/LTE" it does not specify that the phone comes with both, it's saying those are the two technologies that they have or are currently deploying for 4G, any other assumption you choose to make based off of that such as "false advertisement since my phone should have LTE in addition to HSPA+"is just simply that, your erroneous assumption.

There is way too much misinformation in regards to 4G on the internet right now. AT&T had to follow suit with T-Mobile calling HSPA+ 4G due to the industry following business standards (marketing) instead of vice versa. Most people in tune with wireless or savvy enough to read and comprehend facts know that HSPA+ is indeed NOT a 4G technology. Both Sprint's and Verizon's "4G" network, WiMax and LTE respectively in their initial iterations do not meet true industry 4G standards, specifically and most importantly in the speed department.

The FCC and the CTIA as well as any industry expert has always said the requirement of a 4G technology is the capacity to support a theoretical max speed of 100Mbit/s.

NO CARRIER'S CURRENT TECHNOLOGY IS EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THIS STANDARD.

Only when LTE-Advanced is deployed will this be the case and even then, these are theoretical speeds meaning a perfect environment without any form of error-correction or security control. Actual average connection speeds will be significantly lower.

Bottom line is that T-mobile, AT&T and Sprint will all have connectivity in the 4-6Mb/s range where Verizon users will have a slight edge with 7-10Mb/s average speeds in "4G" areas . Buy the device you like the best with the OS you like the best and make sure you have good coverage in the places you frequent, period.

No mobile phone currently sold by AT&T is LTE capable. The upcoming Atrix 2 is rumored to be the first AT&T device that will have a LTE chip. Now, the Infuse will obviously work in a LTE area, but it will not deliver LTE speeds.
