So I'm thinking of upgrading from my Bell Palm Pre on thursday when the Atrix comes out. I will hopefully will be buying it out right no contract. I don't know everything about Andriod and the one concern I have is this whole signed bootloader business. Does this mean there will be no custom rom's? Also how well does motorola keep there word? They have suggested that 2.3 is in the works for the atrix, but will they actually push it out? I have recently been kinda mislead from Palm / Hp on the 2.0 upgrade, so I'm trying to cover my bases.

All in all this phone looks pretty sweet!

I left a pre a year ago for a nexus one.it depends on the level of hacking you want to do. Yes the bootloader is locked, but I promise you wont be disappointed in android. I miss the deck of cards with webos but I couldn't and wouldn't dare look back!

No. Don't worry about it. Chances are you won't even need custom roms and there are already custom roms out for the Atrix now.
