Atrix International use
There are various discussions on the web concerning potential issues with the Atrix and international usage, specifically Germany. I wonder if anyone can chime in. I will be traveling to Taiwan and Hong Kong next month and (as a former avid Blackberry user) I'm concerned about this potential issue.
Does anyone have actual experience using the Atrix (AT&T with full international coverage) internationally - specifically Taiwan and Hong Kong
Thanks - 03-23-2011, 05:09 PM #2
I dont have actual experience using it abroad yet but i did do extensive research since i travel a lot. The Atrix supports UMTS 2100 which is the standard for 3G for most GSM networks around the world. The phone also has a quad band gsm, which means calls and edge will work on any gsm network in the world.
Hopefully someone can help you with actual experience in those countries, if not you can wikipedia what networks they use. - 03-23-2011, 08:47 PM #3
I was in Tokyo and Hong Kong at the end of February. In Tokyo, the Atrix worked on Softbank's 3G network. In Hong Kong, you have a choice of 3G providers, all of which worked for me: Smartone, Peoples, 3/Hunchingson, and others. FYI, i only used voice and SMS; too expensive to data roam !

Just got back from China through South Korea. Data, voice and SMS all worked without a hitch. Cant wait to see the bill. Or should I say, expense the bill.
