Default Otterbox Users: Defender or Commuter?

    Which do you guys recommend?

I actually have the 3rd otterbox option, the Impact series. It's great unless you're going to be taking it off and back on several times a day like I did, to use the cardock charger and desktop charger and whatnot. Then it stretches. I've owned mine for 2 months and it's so stretched it's irritating as hell to hold my phone with the case on now. :\ the phone simply doesn't fit inside it correctly anymore.

Hopefully you either won't be using the docks as much as I do, or the defender/commuter series aren't as sensitive.

I use the commuter. Not much bulk but still offers better protection.

Defender is way too bulky, I recommend the Commuter case. I have it and like it.

I've got defender. It sucks. The rubbery part is loose and doesn't seal well

I have the Commuter and think it's a very good case. The two-piece design fits together very tightly and I'd imagine, adds a little bit of water resistance. The holes/ports in the case all line up well with the bits on the phone. It's well designed. What keeps me from saying it's a "great case" is that the outer hard plastic shell, while very durable, is a litle bit slippery in my hands. It has a lightly pebbled, textured finish. Everyone's hands are different, so YMMV. I'm a big believer in protective cases for any electronic equipment. The Atrix is just too darn expensive, and too nice a phone to not have a quality case for it. I highly recommend the Commuter case.

I'll throw up another vote for the Commuter unless you're going to be using it around construction and areas where it is likely to get quite a few bumps. Commuter is still plenty thing to slide into your pocket, but it does add some bulk, but nothing like the Defender.
Commuter is far better for everyday use imo

By the way, as a side note to my post: I did NOT put on the screen protector. I honestly didn't think the work and stress to put it on straight, w/o bubbles, etc, was worth whatever protection it could provide. The fact that it's permanent once you put it on sorta scared me, so I didn't use it. The Atrix does feature Corning's new Gorilla Glass on the screen. Not that I'm planning on testing it out...I hope it's good and strong though.

Not to derail here... but that included screen protector is dreadful. There is a company called realook that makes crystal clear protectors for the phone that are top notch. A little pricey at $10 for a pair, but they are worth it.

LOVE the Commuter. Slim, solid, perfect fit. And the screen protector is a real bonus.

Commuter hands down .... If you get the defender be prepared to carry a brick in your pocket .
