Vanilla install of Android

Is it possible to install a default Android install or at least remove the Samsung UI layer?

I don't like the Samsung UI (although it's nicer than SenseUI, imo). I just don't see why phone makers feel the need to mess with Android.

I thought this platform was supposed to be more open :\

Yes there should be roms released soon which allow you to use a vanilla UI.

Give the chefs sometime and your wish will be granted. Also will need to root to get this option.

With plain roms do we get better email and calendar? Better copy/paste?

Samsumg really let me down on some of their implementations. Basic functionality is missing that i see on other 2.1 phones.

What about flash, when will we be able to get flash. I have it on my nexus one and love it.

Just run launcherpro to avoid all the samsung stuff.

yes, just use launcher pro.

Pluses for the Touchwiz UI is the swipe to call/message on any contact and the toggles within the notification panel.

Everything else is hidden to me as i use launcherpro plus
