Updating to froyo after root/bloatware removal

I rooted my Samsung Captivate a few weeks ago just so I could delete the AT&T bloatware that floods the phone. I know that an official froyo build is coming out for U.S. users soon, and I want to know what effect removing the AT&T apps will have when I want to update. Will the update just restore the bloatware? Will it brick my phone? Does anybody have past experience with this at least on other phones?

Removing stock apps will cause the update to fail when applied. Just flash back to stock using Odin when Froyo comes out and you'll be fine.

IMO, if you are going to have to flash back to stock (plus a little more effort I think) to get the OTA update, may as well wait for the XDA guys to re-package the OTA as a clockwork flashable ROM. Save you all the wasted effort of getting back to stock, and it is the same effort that will get you to 2.2 now if you want.

Unless of course the OTA update fixes GPS. That would get me back on stock. Not holding my breath.
