Hi,

I have a Nexus one and just got a Captivate this weekend and I am confused with Odin as it is a totally new tool for me.

On my N1, I am flashing ROMs using ROM Manager or the recovery. I seems you can do the same on the Captivate but you can also use Odin. What is the difference? Can I avoid using it to Flash ROMs?

For example, the Cognition Wiki says, you must flash the ROM using Odin except if you already have Odin installed. I am on Ginger Clone 2.2, what will happen if I flash Cognition using Clockwork recovery after wiping the phone?

Thanks you!

Clockwork is a custom recovery on your phone used to flash ROMs, kernels and other mods. Odin is Samsung's internal flashing program for Windows that is mainly used to return to stock or update your modem.
